Alexandria, VA (May 10th , 2010) – FontanaTech – Running for political office in todays social media world requires a technology platform that will support many different initiatives from engaging Facebook friends to Twitter followers. For this reason and William H Campbell selected FontanaTech to design and implement the web presense for his campaing to become Marylands Comptroller in the November 2010 election.

The solution required connections to Facebook, google check-out for donations, and the ability to easily add and update content quickly. Using the very popular WordPress platform, FontanaTech created a template based structure that provides a content managed environment which can easily be updated and managed by both the candidate and the many volunteers supporting his efforts. Future updates may include live twitter feeds, content inserted into Facebook from the website, and poll tracking.

Exchange Server 2007 Implemenation

Alexandria, VA (April 10th , 2010) – FontanaTech – Replacing an existing Exchange Server 2003 with Exchange Server 2007 can be a daunting task. FontanaTech was recently asked to assist in the installation of Exchange 2007 and provide a path to retire their oder Exchange 2003 server. There were several items that needed to be considered during this task, first it was important to ensure the new sever would be running a 64bit OS (the customer had already purchased the new server and OS). Once the new server was setup we were able to install the appropriate server roles, run pre-installation routines, install Exchange 2007, and move a few test mailboxes to the new server. No special configuration was required on either mail server however the firewall did need to be modified to allow SMTP traffic to route properly from the new server.

The total time required for this project was 4 hours. The method included educating staff on each step of the process allowing the customer to learn more technical skills. It also included providing a step by step guide on how best to move existing mailboxes, the time required for each, and the changes required after all mailboxes had be moved. This customer is now able to administer his environment without the added expense of outside consultants.

Working with Young Nonprofit Professional Network of DC (YNPNdc)

For the past year FontanaTech has been providing voluntary services to the 5000+ member organization, YNPNdc. Most recently FontanaTech developed a website for their annual spring conference (www.ynpndcevents.org) which uses an open source technology platform with thousands of pre-existing modules that can be used to support their efforts.

The cost of developing and emplementing the project was perfect for this all volunteer nonprofit group. It included designing the site layout, color scheme, taxonomy, content managment system, and You Tube and Piscal Photo integration. Estimated cost of building a site like this is set at $250.00 which includes the domain name registration, setup, development and maintenance.

FontanaTech continues to support YNPNdc with guidance on their iModules Content Management System for email newsletter distribution, event registrations, and their overall technical strategy.

Online event registration application

Alexandria, VA (April 30, 2009) – FontanaTech – a software engineering company supporting the Association and Nonprofit industry – was selected today as the software company to design and build the online event registration module for the Society for Maintenance & Reliability Professionals (SMRP) 17th Annual Conference in St. Louis, MO October 19th – 22nd 2009.

The online event registration application will conduct ecommerce transactions and update the SMRP enterprise database system, Euclid’s ClearVantage, in real-time. Features such as Profile Updates, Membership Renewal, Certification, Workshop, Tours, and Golf outings will also be available during the registration application.

This will be the first time SMRP uses an online event registration that has a direct connection to their backend database, which will reduce staff data-entry time significantly and provide an immediate response to SMRP members with updated membership information and confirmation/receipt of purchase.

The Society for Maintenance & Reliability Professions (SMRP) is an independent, non-profit society by and for practitioners in the Maintenance & Reliability Profession with nearly 2,000 members.
